The Supporting Children with Additional Needs (SCAN) program aims to provide eligible State only funded children's services with the resources they need, to assist children with additional needs to have equal access to a quality early childhood or vacation care experience.
The SCAN program is funded by Community Services. Illawarra Children's Services manages the SCAN program in the Illawarra, Southern NSW and Metro South West Sydney areas.
The SCAN program provides funding support and consultancy support to eligible State funded children's services with the inclusion of children with additional needs.
Funding support through the SCAN program provides a contribution towards the cost of supporting the access of a child with additional needs to an eligible children's service.
Consultancy support in the form of training, advice, support and resources, is available to services to assist with the inclusion of children from the SCAN target groups, as well as children from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds.

The children in attendance at the eligible services may be between birth and 12 years of age.
NSW children's services that are State only funded and are not an approved service for the purpose of receiving the Commonwealth Child Care Benefit (CCB) are eligible to apply for SCAN funding.
