Heard of the Green Bean Play Cafe?

Green Bean Play Cafe

Green Bean is a new soft play venue for 0-5 years olds. Adults can relax over a cup of our 100% organic Fair Trade coffee, delicious snack or light meal, all while the children play in full view.

Entry is free for children under 12 months, with unlimited play for children up to five years for $7. The cafe opens for coffee, delicious treats and children’s soft play 9am-2.30pm weekdays, and 9am-12pm on Saturday mornings. Private parties will also be available from January 2009.

Green Bean Play Cafe is an initiative of Illawarra Children’s Services. Proceeds support the development of our not-for-profit, community owned children’s centres across our region.

Creativity Conference a hit with teachers, artsworkers and carers

CREATIVITY | a one day conference on inspiring creativity in children 0-12 years

The inaugural Illawarra Children's Services Creativity Conference was held today at the Nan Tien Temple, Berkeley.

Jan Deans, Director, Early Learning Centre, Boorai - The Children’s Art Gallery and Senior Lecturer (University of Melbourne) delivered the keynote address, ‘Giving Form to Feeling: the earth, the heart and the arts’.

The conference also featured Simon Spain (ArtPlay), Dr Julie Dunn (Griffith University), Sue Elliott (RMIT University), Janet Andrews and Ann Lehmann (Wollongong Conservatorium of Music), plus live performances by Tyler Coppin and Heidi Hodeo.

Best Catch - Celebrating the contributions of young men in our region

Illawarra Children's Services is proud to support Illawarra's Best Catch, a local event celebrating the efforts of young men who are making a difference in our community.

This year, the event raised funds for My Place, a residential facility that provides housing and counselling services for homeless young people in our local area.

Congratulations to David Wassink, who was named Illawarra's Best Catch for 2008, and to all of the Best Catch finalists
