Creative youngsters get arty in Illawarra Children's Services centres, with artist-in-residence, Jill Talbot
Illawarra Children’s Services believes in the value of creativity in the lives of children. Research tells us that children’s emotional and cognitive development is supported by creative play and the arts.
Creative learning also helps with the development of skills in literacy, maths and science, and enhances children’s ability to express and build their emotional intelligence, self awareness and confidence.
As part of our commitment to creativity, Illawarra Children’s Services has engaged a practising artist, Jill Talbot, as artist-in-residence in our early childhood centres. Jill has over 20 years experience in teaching art to children and adults, and has been engaging children and staff in visual arts workshops throughout late 2009.
