Illawarra Children’s Services and Merrigong Theatre Company present the 2011 Creativity Conference
A UNIQUE CONFERENCE EXAMINES HOW REAL CONNECTIONS ARE FORGED CREATIVELY THROUGH HEARTS AND MINDS……
An amazing line up of world renowned speakers convened in the heart of Wollongong at the IPAC for the third annual Creativity Conference.
Merrigong Theatre Company and Illawarra Children’s Services created a one of a kind conference that struck a chord with around 200 delegates expected from around Australia.
Now in its third year, the Creativity Conference aims to inspire teachers, cultural workers and carers – in fact anyone interested in children’s optimal development and education.
The conference is a joint venture between the two not for profit organisations and is driven by their shared belief in and commitment to, the rights of all children to live and learn creatively.
Simon Hinton, Merrigong Theatre Company’s Artistic Director and CEO said “We believe that children’s development, their future happiness and success, can be positively impacted by the unlocking of their creative potential.”
The eclectic mix of conference presenters included internationally renowned designer of children’s learning environments, Mary Featherston, a leader in both Australia and Europe, author and philosopher Phil Cam, an international authority on philosophy in education and the writer of the ethics pilot for NSW schools, and author and musician Robert Faulkner whose new book “Music in Our Lives” looks at the impact of creative education on 150 children over a 14 year period.
